The High Court will rule on Wontumi’s bail request on November 4.
In order to appeal his conviction and 20-year prison sentence for illicit mining-related offenses connected to a concession at Samreboi in the Western Region, the application requests his release from custody.
While the appeal process is ongoing, Mr. Boasiako’s attorneys are requesting bail.
The application was supposed to be heard on August 19, but it was postponed because Mr. Boasiako and his primary attorney, Samuel Atta Akyea, did not show up. The event was later rescheduled for today.
The former NPP regional chairman is a flight risk, according to the Attorney-General, who has opposed the bail request.
When the court renders its decision on November 4, it is anticipated to decide whether to grant Mr. Boasiako bail pending the resolution of his appeal.
